Compression-order verification

Compression support starts with the individual's clinical assessment and order. The condition, product and prescribed method matter; a product label does not establish suitability. Compression is not a universal response to every circulation problem or swollen limb, and the household should not choose a strength independently.

Product and task review

The selected equipment or application can affect daily tasks. Hand limitations may make a garment difficult to manage, while reach or movement restrictions can change how assistance is provided. Nursing and ordered OT can coordinate these concerns. Any caregiver task requires appropriate instruction for the person and product rather than a generic wrapping demonstration.

Qualified instruction

Missing products, new discomfort or unclear directions require communication with the responsible team. An unreviewed substitute should not be used simply because it is available. Supplies, equipment and their benefits require separate confirmation from the nursing visit. The plan should also communicate relevant instructions to therapists so rehabilitation and compression-related care remain consistent.

Eligibility and insurance review

Original Medicare Part A & B may cover eligible home health care when the applicable homebound, skilled-care, clinician-order and certification requirements are met and services follow an individual plan through a Medicare-certified agency. Coverage and any patient responsibility require verification. Blue Shield of California PPO and Anthem Blue Cross PPO benefits are also reviewed individually. Equipment, medications and separately billed services require their own benefit review.
