Physical Therapy That Comes to You in Koreatown
Koreatown is the densest neighborhood in Los Angeles, and almost nobody here lives in a house. Patients are in mid-rise and high-rise buildings along Wilshire, Olympic, and 6th Street, in 1920s courtyard apartments on Harvard and Catalina, and in walk-ups off Irolo and Normandie. Units are compact. Elevators are shared and sometimes small. Parking is genuinely difficult. Our licensed physical therapists have adapted to all of it, because the alternative ā expecting a recovering patient to travel to an outpatient clinic through this ā does not work.
Our therapists serve all Koreatown neighborhoods and apartment buildings, the Wilshire Boulevard, Olympic Boulevard, and 6th Street corridors, Western Avenue, Vermont Avenue, and Normandie Avenue, the Harvard Boulevard, Irolo Street, and Catalina Street areas, and the Koreatown Galleria and Wilshire Center vicinity.
Therapy in a Small Apartment
People assume a small unit rules out physical therapy. It does not. Nearly everything that matters is trainable in a compact space: sit-to-stand from your actual chair, bed mobility, the bathroom transfer, standing balance at a counter, step-ups at a threshold, and strengthening that needs no equipment beyond body weight and a resistance band.
Where walking distance is the goal and the unit is too small for it, we use the corridor ā which is also the more useful surface, because that corridor is the route you actually have to manage to leave the building.
What the Evaluation Covers
Your therapist measures strength, joint range of motion, standing balance, and gait speed, then applies them to your building: the unit layout, the corridor, the elevator and its timing, the lobby, the entry steps, and the route to the street. Medications, blood pressure response to standing, and fall history are reviewed.
Conditions We Treat at Home
- Recovery after knee, hip, and shoulder replacement or repair
- Building-access training: corridors, elevators, lobbies, thresholds
- Balance deficits and fall prevention
- Gait retraining after stroke or with Parkinson’s disease
- Weakness and deconditioning after a hospital stay
- Back and joint pain limiting daily activity
- Therapy programs designed for compact living spaces
Korean at Home, English at Work
This is one of the most common situations we meet here: a parent who speaks Korean and an adult child who manages their care in English. Instructions passed between the two arrive incomplete, and the parts most often lost are the precautions.
Our team includes Korean-speaking clinicians. We teach the patient directly in Korean, provide the written home program in Korean, and separately make sure the adult child has the same information in English. Both people end up holding the same plan rather than two different versions of it. Spanish is also available.
Coordination With Your Physicians
We coordinate with Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles, Good Samaritan Hospital, CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Koreatown Health Center, and Vermont Community Clinic. Your physician receives objective measurements and progress notes after visits.

Coverage and How to Begin
Home physical therapy requires a physician order documenting medical necessity. Medicare may cover in-home physical therapy if you qualify, which generally requires a physician order, a skilled therapy need, and homebound status as Medicare defines it. Coverage is not guaranteed in advance. We accept Original Medicare Part A & B, Blue Shield of California PPO, and Anthem Blue Cross PPO.
Our intake team verifies your coverage and explains your benefits in Korean, Spanish, or English before services begin. Most patients start within one to two days of a completed referral.

All neighborhoods and apartment buildings, the Wilshire, Olympic, and 6th Street corridors, Western, Vermont, and Normandie Avenue, the Harvard Boulevard, Irolo Street, and Catalina Street areas, and the Koreatown Galleria and Wilshire Center vicinity.
Tell intake that Korean is your preferred language and ask how the assessment will be supported. Mention hearing, vision, or written-language needs as well. Confirm the arrangement before the visit so you can describe symptoms and ask questions directly.
Yes, routinely. We confirm buzzer listings and building access in advance, and the corridor, elevator timing, and lobby are part of the assessment ā that route is what you actually have to manage to leave the building.
Explain that the household uses both languages and ask how the plan can be communicated consistently. With your parent's permission, you can join the teaching. The team should check understanding of the same exercises and precautions rather than rely on improvised summaries between relatives.
The therapist can assess the usable space around your own bed, chair, bathroom, and walking route. The program may use those everyday tasks and surfaces rather than require a large exercise area. It should still allow safe movement and any assistance required by the assessment.
