Cookie Policy

This policy describes cookies and related technologies used by HarvardCare Home Health’s website. Read it with our Privacy Policy, which explains information uses, recipients, and privacy requests.

1. What cookies and browser storage do

A cookie is a small value stored by your browser and sent with certain requests. Browser local storage can retain preferences on your device. Scripts and pixels can also send information, such as an IP address or page address, without relying on a cookie. Some storage lasts for a browsing session; other values remain until expiry or removal.

Identifiers and browsing information can be personal information. “First-party,” “functional,” or “essential” does not automatically mean anonymous, and blocking cookies does not prevent every kind of data collection.

2. Technologies used on this site

Website access and forms

WordPress and form functions can use cookies or similar identifiers to support sign-in, access to a password-protected page, form operation, and security. WordPress cookies such as wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_*, and wp-settings-* relate principally to authenticated users or their settings; not every public visitor receives them. The wp-postpass_* cookie can be set after successful access to a password-protected page. Lifetimes depend on the function and sign-in choice; the intake password cookie is configured as a session cookie.

HarvardCare source and telephone-link tracking

The site uses first-party attribution cookies with the hcut_ prefix. They help record how a visitor arrived and associate that source with a form submission or a click on a telephone link.

• hcut_session_id and hcut_visit_logged are configured for one day.
• Source and campaign values, such as hcut_utm_*, hcut_landing_page, hcut_referrer, hcut_ft_set, and available advertising click identifiers, are configured for 30 days.

Associated server records can include page addresses, referrers, timestamps, campaign identifiers, IP address, browser or device information, and approximate city or region. The IP-location lookup uses an external provider, ip-api.com. Cookie expiry does not automatically delete those server records.

Microsoft Advertising

The site includes Microsoft Advertising’s Universal Event Tracking (UET) tag. It can collect page and interaction information, device or browser details, IP address, and online identifiers for advertising measurement and related advertising uses. Microsoft may place or read identifiers such as _uetsid, _uetvid, or its own cookies, depending on its current configuration and your browser settings. Provider-controlled names and lifetimes can change.

Microsoft may combine information with activity from other websites or services. Review the Microsoft Privacy Statement and Microsoft advertising preferences for its practices and available choices.

Accessibility preferences and external resources

The OneTap accessibility tool uses browser local storage to remember display choices. Local storage generally remains until it is cleared by you, the browser, or the tool. Requested resources such as Google Fonts and OpenStreetMap map tiles also involve connections to their providers; those providers receive technical request information even if they do not set a cookie.

3. Available controls

The current site has no on-site cookie consent banner or “Consent Preferences” panel. Tracking can load when the relevant page loads.

You can use your browser’s site-data settings to inspect, delete, or block cookies and local storage, and its privacy controls or extensions to limit third-party requests. Blocking storage may prevent sign-in, password-protected access, saved display choices, or some form functions. Browser controls may apply only to that browser and device.

Provider advertising preferences may reduce personalized advertising without stopping every measurement request. Clearing a cookie or opting out generally does not erase information already received by a provider. You can also contact our office about a privacy request or use the phone instead of a website form.

4. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

The current website does not automatically change tracking in response to the legacy Do Not Track setting or the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. These are different mechanisms. This limitation does not remove any opt-out rights you have under applicable California law.

5. Changes and questions

We update this policy and its effective date when the described practices change. Contact the office with questions about website tracking or assistance with a privacy request.

For privacy requests, ask for the Privacy Officer. Use email to request assistance or arrange a protected way to communicate; do not include medical records, insurance member numbers, Social Security numbers, or other sensitive details in ordinary email.
