What the Evaluation Covers

Your therapist measures strength, joint range of motion, standing balance, and gait speed, then measures the building: the stairs or elevator to your unit, the lobby threshold, doorway widths in a compact apartment, furniture and bed heights, the bathroom transfer, and the sidewalk and crossings nearby. Medications, blood pressure response to standing, and fall history are reviewed.

Older Buildings, Predictable Problems

The apartment stock here is mostly pre-1970, which means walk-ups with exterior stairs, small elevators where they exist, narrow interior doorways, and compact bathrooms. We measure rather than assume: the stair rise and where the rail ends, whether your device passes the bathroom door, how far it is from your unit to the street. Where the building has one elevator, the stairwell gets trained early as a backup, because an elevator out of service should be an inconvenience rather than the reason someone misses a hospital appointment.

We coordinate with Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, Southern California Hospital at Hollywood, Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center, Barlow Respiratory Hospital, and PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital. Your physician receives objective measurements and progress notes after visits.
