In-Home Physical Therapy in Holmby Hills
Holmby Hills sits between Beverly Hills and Westwood, built around Holmby Park and the Los Angeles Country Club on the long curving lanes ā Charing Cross Road, Carolwood Drive, Mapleton, Delfern, Baroda, Faring Road, and the Beverly Glen corridor. The properties are large, gated, and set well back, with interior distances that exceed most people’s daily walking tolerance and staircases in several places. Our licensed physical therapists work discreetly and treat the scale of the house as the practical problem it is.
Our therapists serve all Holmby Hills residential streets, Charing Cross Road and Carolwood Drive, Mapleton Drive, Delfern Drive, and Baroda Drive, Faring Road and the Beverly Glen Boulevard corridor, and the homes surrounding Holmby Park and the Los Angeles Country Club.
A Home Gym Is Not a Rehabilitation Program
Many houses here have exercise equipment already, and patients reasonably assume it is an asset. Some of it is. Most of it was chosen for a healthy adult maintaining fitness, and a few pieces are actively unhelpful in the weeks after a joint replacement or a stroke ā a leg extension machine loads the operated knee in exactly the way a surgeon does not want, and a treadmill with a moving belt demands a gait pattern a recovering patient has not got back yet.
So part of the first visit is going through what is there and saying plainly which two or three pieces are useful now, which become useful later, and which should be left alone for the moment and why. That is more valuable than adding equipment. The most useful objects in the house are usually a sturdy chair of known height, a counter edge, and a measured stretch of hallway ā and we set the program on those.
What the Evaluation Covers
Your therapist measures strength, joint range of motion, standing balance, and gait speed, then measures the property: the interior distances between the rooms you actually use, each staircase and its rail, the entry steps, the distance from the door to where a car stops, doorway widths against your device, furniture and bed heights, and the bathroom. Medications, blood pressure response to standing, and fall history are reviewed.
Conditions We Treat at Home
- Recovery after knee, hip, and shoulder replacement or repair
- Staircase retraining in multi-level homes
- Balance deficits and fall prevention
- Gait retraining after stroke or with Parkinson’s disease
- Weakness and deconditioning after a hospital stay
- Graded endurance work over long interior distances
- Back and joint pain limiting daily activity
Working Alongside Household Staff
Where a household already has private caregivers or staff, our job includes coordinating with them rather than working around them. We train whoever is physically assisting you on the specific transfers your house requires, and we are equally clear about what should not be assisted ā a well-staffed household that helps with everything is one of the more common reasons recovery stalls, because the patient stops doing the very tasks that rebuild strength. We put that in writing, so it is a clinical instruction rather than an awkward conversation between you and someone you employ.
Coordination With Your Physicians
We coordinate with California Rehabilitation Institute, the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Southern California Hospital at Culver City, Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center, and Providence Saint John’s Health Center. For patients coming home after surgery we work directly with discharge planners. Your physician receives objective measurements and progress notes after visits.

Starting Physical Therapy Services
Home physical therapy requires a physician order documenting medical necessity. Medicare may cover in-home physical therapy if you qualify, which generally requires a physician order, a skilled therapy need, and homebound status as Medicare defines it. Coverage is not guaranteed in advance. We accept Original Medicare Part A & B, Blue Shield of California PPO, and Anthem Blue Cross PPO.
Our intake team verifies your coverage and explains your benefits before services begin. Most patients start within one to two days of a completed referral.

Partly. Some pieces are useful now, some later, and a few are worth leaving alone for the moment ā a leg extension machine loads an operated knee the way a surgeon does not want. We go through what is there and say which is which.

Yes. Visits are private and scheduled to suit the household, and clinical information is shared only with your physician and the people you authorise.
Have the therapist review the equipment and current medical restrictions first. Previous resistance, movement range, or duration may no longer fit your needs. Follow the rehabilitation plan rather than assuming familiar settings remain appropriate because you used them comfortably before surgery.
