Your therapist measures strength, joint range of motion, standing balance, and gait speed, then measures the property: the entry steps, any staircase and its rail, doorway widths against your device, furniture and bed heights, the bathroom, the driveway, and the route to the village. Medications, blood pressure response to standing, and fall history are reviewed.

The village itself, level and a few blocks away with somewhere to sit, makes an unusually good staged goal once you are ready for it, and we record distance and gait speed each visit so the progression is based on measurement rather than on how a day felt.

Coordination With Your Physicians

We coordinate with Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, Southern California Hospital at Hollywood, Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, Sherman Oaks Hospital, CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. For patients coming home after surgery we work directly with discharge planners. Your physician receives objective measurements and progress notes after visits.

Home physical therapy requires a physician order documenting medical necessity. Medicare may cover in-home physical therapy if you qualify, which generally requires a physician order, a skilled therapy need, and homebound status as Medicare defines it.
